Post Secondary is first on many of Eastviews finest.
With the poor economy, many are finding it difficult to make ends meet, let alone afford the expenses of college tuition. Luckily, there is one option that significantly cuts the cost of college. Post secondary has become a reasonable option for many students in high school.
Post secondary is a program available to Junior and Senior high school students willing to pursue their college education prior to high school graduation. The real benefit to post secondary is the fact that many kids can complete courses for free that they would otherwise take for hundreds of dollars in college.
“Post Secondary is a great program for students with a strong work ethic,” says high school senior Greg Berman. “It will really help me in college when I’m semesters ahead of my fellow classmates, and I’ll have saved quite a bit of money.”
While Post Secondary seems to be a great option, it is crucial for students to look into the program in order to assure that the choice fits them.
There are two prominent requirements in order for a student to be able to participate in post secondary. First, the student must be able to provide their own transportation to commute from the college campus to their high school, and vice versa. Second, in order to qualify for post secondary one must be in the top fifty percent of their class.
Other aspects of post secondary can be considered a negative for different students. Many students find it to be difficult to participate in school sports and activities while attending college during high school. Another aspect to greatly consider is making sure that the classes you take are transferrable and follow the criteria in the career you wish to pursue. Otherwise, post secondary could end up being a mistake, and a waste of your time.
But never the less with this option for upper classmen being an open one more and more students are taking it. When it truly comes down to it the one thing that many students are trying to get back is time. And time is exactly what they will get. Greg goes on to say “I am very happy with the outcome of me coming here because after this year I will only have two more years to go.” And then after college is when the real work starts. “Like many people I just want to get on with my life and with this I can do it sooner and faster.” Another reason many of the kids who are in post secondary choose this path is because there future goals require or would be a lot easier with more time. “I plan to pursue business after college.” Greg says.
Along with upper classmen many of the underclass men see many of the possibility of the post secondary. “I plan to do post secondary in the future to save money for college and to get a jump start on my schooling.” Says Eastview sophomore Siri Ware. And she not the only one many plan to do this many underclass men plan on using this ever so popular option for the future.
“I’m so glad I did this it was hard at times but in the end it really going to pay off.” Explains Greg and he right the challenge of post secondary scares many of the student away from it. But if you do take on the challenge belive me from what I have seen it defiantly pays off.

Has Eastview gotten a little off beat?
Three years ago, if you asked many students what events here at Eastview they like the most? Many of them will say the school dances. But from two thousand seven on up school dances have seemed to go down in popularity. Much blame the new rules imposed on the dances and some blame the music, but what really is going through kids heads when they think of the school dances? It even got so bad that the recent Neon dances popularity was so low that the school had to cancel the last at school dance of the year. So I went in depth to see what went wrong with the school dances.”The school dances would be more fun if they actually let us dance the way we want to.” Say Eastviews junior Beka Yahya. “And the dances would be more fun if they were in the school gym” Beka explains. This seems to be one of the many concern on many Eastviews students minds. When it comes down to it many schools have the same common problems when trying to produce a successful school dance. The first is money even though we may not see it an Eastview dance can cost a lot of cashand at the same time can generate money. Between DJ’s, decorations, and cleans up the dance can run a pretty high bill. But these aren’t the concerns on many Eastview students minds, what many of them are worried about are the rules that are set in place when having a dance. “I didn’t like it when they started turning on all the lights at the school dances.” Says Michael Gilberts a sophomore here at Eastview. “I just don’t understand why everything changed.” Say Eastview junior Jordan Ghunus. And she’s not the only one, this was a common statement that I heard. Almost all of the upper class men who were here when Doctor Dewey was principal say the change stinks. As we changed in principals so did our dances. It all of a sudden went to lights on, and more teachers came out. “My favorite dances were always the welcome back dance, but lately their popularity has seemed to have gone down.” Remarks Timothy Johnstad at junior here at Eastview. And he’s right the dances students remembered were the one that were the advertised the most, or had some other connection built on them such as dressing up for homecoming.” By far my favorite dances are Sadie’s, homecoming, and prom.” Says sophomore Siri Ware “I just love the themes and dressing up for the dances.” And she also is right almost all of the Eastview girls I talked to said that their favorite dancers were the one that they dressed up, and got ready for. Many agreed that it’s just more fun that way. So after talking to all these people I think I have found a few of the key reasons of why school dances are failing here at Eastview. The first one and one that many students enjoy are the themes. If we let the student body have more say in the schools dance themes or try and come up with more originals themes the popularity for the school dances would increase. Another key in themes and the e dance s that in the end truly gets kids in line at the dances is the advertisement. By flashing around the dances a bit more it would stir up more popularity and have kids at the e dance and having fun. But the major concern on many kids’ minds is the rules put in place at the dances. And the final and biggest concern at the dances rules especially with the teachers and lights. With just a simple adjustment to the light and not having the teachers hover over all of us at all times it would make many students very happy. So the reason school dances are going down at Eastview may be because of the rules and low morale in dances, but here is another look at it. News story
When we were freshmen we usually thought of school dances as fun or exciting it was a memory we could all have. But now a days as we get older the only dance that seem to qualify in as cool are Sadie's, homecoming, and of course prom. So what make the difference in a dance that's rock'n to the beat and on that just isn't in rhythm. I investigate to see what really is the core of a school dance and really makes them fun.
Ill interview a school official that is at the head of organizing the school dances from where it at to what music to play. Next ill interview a student that is a part of making the dance become a real event, and finally ill interview a student to see what really makes a school dance fun.
